Basant Panchami

The college celebrated “Basant Panchami ” on 1st february 2017. The society contributed  by flying kites containing themes ” sky is the limit” ” Ayi Basant- discrimination udhant(removal)” “Betiyon  ka har tayohar, betiyan bahar hain ”  to sensitise society regarding the importance of female child. we will add to the cause of “gender equality” by our small efforts.

“Lohri Ka Paigam, Betiyon ke Naam-” on 13th January, 2017

The society  in collaboration with NSS unit of the college organized Lohri celebration under the theme “Lohri Ka Paigam, Betiyon ke Naam-2

” on 13th January, 2017. The girls from slum area at the backyard of college were invited to College campus. The Dean of the college, Dr.Rosy Walia Distributed bangles and peanuts to the small girls. The Children also danced around the bonfire. All the Students and Faculty Members enjoyed peanuts around the bonfire amidst the chilled morning of winter.

    Seminar on “Gender equality” by Mr. Sanjeev Gulati: A talk has been delivered by Mr. Sanjeev Gulati , State Co-coordinator , “Chandigarh child and women development Corp”,Chandigarh. He has aired his views about so many gender issues. He has involved students with plethora of practical examples. He shared his experiences with students about so many problems of women as a child,daughter,daughter-in-law and a wife . He sensitized our boys to be understanding and girls to be independent and strong.

A Power Point Presentation Competition On the theme Of Gender Equality Was Held On 12th August 2016 In the Seminar Room. The competition was on the theme of gender issues such as domestic violence, female feticide, desires for a boy -the outcomes etc. The Show Was Hosted By Shubham Gupta And Pearl Single And Diksha Duggal of BCOM-III. The Judges For the Day Were Dean Dr. Rosy Walia And Dr. Manoj Kumar. 5 Teams Participated In the Event. Two were announced as the Winners .One was Mr. Manoj Kumar from BBA-III and Second Was Mr. Nischal Gulati from BCOM-III. They Were Also Awarded With Pens And Diaries And A Consolation Prize To Ms. Reena For Their Participation In the Event.

Interactive session on Down syndrome by Genetic Department of GMCH-32, Chandigarh.

Gender sensitization society organized a one day awareness Programme in co-ordination with “Chandigarh Down Syndrome Society” of GMCH Sector-32 on 14 March 2016 on the theme “My Friends, My Community”. Dr. Gurjeet Kaur presided over the function and DSC07517carried out an interactive session to create awareness amongst students about “Down Syndrome”. She discussed   various types of precautionary test available to detect “Down Syndrome” during pregnancy. She also enlightened students regarding various other genetic disorders.DSC06861
